Foundation to host joint webinar on the 2024 Access to Medicine Index with Medicines Patent Pool and the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network
The Access to Medicine Foundation is co-hosting a webinar on the 2024 Access to Medicine Index with Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) and the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN). The session will offer insights into industry trends, company-specific performances, and discuss strategies to enhance access to essential medicines in low- and middle-income countries.Access to medicine in sub-Saharan Africa remains a critical issue, with numerous barriers hindering equitable healthcare. The high cost of essential medicines is one of the main challenges in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), creating a gap between the availability of these medicines and people's ability to afford them. To address this disparity and strengthen their collective efforts, the Access to Medicine Foundation, Medicines Patent Pool (MPP), and the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) are partnering to host a joint webinar. The webinar will share key findings from the 2024 Access to Medicine Index and provide expert perspectives on the evolving landscape of access to medicine. During the webinar, the Foundation’s team will present detailed findings from the 2024 Index, including industry trends and company-specific performance. The team will emphasise the Index’s importance as a tool for accountability in the pharmaceutical sector. Following the presentation, the team will also engage in panel discussion and Q&A session, helping fellow attendees to delve deeper into the implications of the 2024 Index findings and exchange insights on the opportunities and challenges pharmaceutical companies face in advancing health equity and access in LMICs.
