Animals Webinar Benefits

The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world, with one out of six species at risk of extinction. The landmark Environment Act, passed by the Conservatives in 2021, empowered councils to create Local Nature Recovery Strategies to map local opportunities for nature restoration. Whether it be through supporting local initiatives, leading their own, or directing developer contributions, councillors now have an important role to play in helping to restore British wildlife and increasing access to nature for their residents.

Join us for this webinar where our panelists will be discussing the ways your council can support wildlife restoration efforts and ideas for initiatives you can lead on locally as an individual councillor.

We’re delighted that our panellists will include The Rt Hon. the Baroness Coffey DBE, former Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs; Dan Pescod, Programme Manager in the Wildlife Trusts’ Landscape Recovery team; Cllr Joe Porter of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council; and Simeon Linstead, Founder of Start with Local.
